A Texas nurse tied the knot in the heart of New York City after traveling to the Big Apple to work on the frontlines of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Amanda Stuart and Ronnie Dooley were married in Times Square Sunday night, PEOPLE can report exclusively. They said β€œI do” with masks on, in front of their family and Stuart’s fellow travel nurses from Coney Island Hospital where she is assigned as a team lead by the disaster staffing agency Krucial Staffing.

β€œYou love me in ways I could never have imagined,” Stuart, 42, said in her vows. β€œYou have truly made my life complete. All the worries, the stress and fears I've carried for so many years are silenced in your presence.”

American author and poet Henry David Thoreau once famously said: β€œEveryone must believe in something. I believe I’ll go canoeing.”

Nearly 180 years after Thoreau took his first of three famous canoe trips, Dana Elizabeth Hagar and Rutherfurd Stuyvesant (β€œStuyve”) Pierrepont IV put a fresh twist on the sport: they committed to climbing in the water in a canoe, on their wedding day, in their tony wedding attire. β€œGetting out on the water was one of the things we were most excited about when we realized how beautiful it would be to highlight the landscape on our special day,” says Hagar, who was β€œcommitted to whatever happened,” while wearing her Romona Keveza bridal dress.

Christina Zipf knew she wanted to feel like herself on her wedding day. She wore her hair in a ponytail, like she always does, and in lieu of light pink nail polish, which she never wears, she chose a burgundy instead, which she said β€œfelt rich and went with the moodier color palette we had selected for the wedding.” Even her leopard-print heels exemplified a part of her, paying homage to her and husband’s alma mater, Lafayette College. So when it came to selecting a wedding dress, it was important that her gown represented who she truly was. Ms. Zipf chose a simple, yet modern, silhouette from the designer Romona Keveza. β€œI loved how simple and interesting it was at the same time. The overskirt provided this architectural element that I thought was beautiful,” Ms. Zipf said. β€œWhat I loved even more was that you could see the silhouette of the dress through the skirt. It felt like a contemporary solution to a more traditional wedding gown.” She later removed the overskirt for the reception in the evening.

Ashley and Jabari crossed paths for the first time in the library at Seattle University. It was May 2011 when that chance encounter happenedβ€”and it really led to something. Their relationship quickly developed into a romance. Seven years in, the pair went on a date for dinner, drinks, and dancing. It was brisk that evening, but they went on a walk post-meal anyway, which is when Jabari decided to pop the question. Ashley happily agreed to marry him.
